I am so disturbed by the harshness of comments and dialogue among “us.” Sometimes I am shocked by the thoughts I think but don’t write. As sort we through the changing landscape of the presidential race, posts have become ugly and raw. We are tearing at each other. Sometimes I wonder if the person I know has been possessed by the pod people. (Have I?) We must careful we do not become the angry, hateful, mean spirited energy we have criticized on the other “side.” When we do that, they are winning. The big game is to pull us all down into that reactionary, vitriolic, emotional energy that is so easy to divide and conquer, manipulate and control.
We must not succumb to that energy. We must not “become the thing that we despise.” We must not become blind in own self-righteousness, hurt and pain. That angry voice is our pain speaking, our sense of helplessness, hopelessness, woundedness taking control. I must/we must remember who we are—passionate AND kind, respectful, reflective, understanding and loving beings. Let us remember we are not helpless but power-filled. Hold on to who you truly are. Let us we return to our true power—Love, Truth and solidarity. It’s hard work. But sometimes I fear for us. We must take care of our souls. We must take care of each other. If you are drowning, ask for help.
